Scraps of Paper

“The Pieces” the book and this blog, started out from scraps of paper I would write and save. Usually from a morning meditation or a scripture that called to me. In time, I had an envelope full of these scraps and a desire in my heart to share The Good News with those who may be like minded; but more so – those who weren’t. Those who needed a new lease on life.

Write your love to God on a heart!

Since the book was published and this blog read; I’ve received very good feedback. Thanks for all who have followed my personal walk of faith. I haven’t updated a few parts; that I became Catholic at Easter, 2019. Or that I still am close to the two other churches I was involved with; Episcopalian and UU. I’ve never believed God puts a “stamp of approval” on a certain religion, but I do believe you must be born again (walk a life of faith) to enter the Kingdom of God. And that you must dislodge selfishness and share the love of Christ with all.

There is an old song by The Imperials, I heard today on Pandora, it’s called “Old Buddha” It’s a reminder that the most charismatic or born again Christian, or lifelong Baptist won’t get into heaven if he hates another.

Hate is a hard pill. We all have experienced, either personally or through life the past year. It’s not always about race, gender, sometimes people just decide to hate others because they were raised that way, or they would rather agree/disagree than have a voice.

This post does seem to be going every which way, right? Sometimes my brain isn’t connected with my fingers typing, but God authors these posts, so I just have to go with it. May you be blessed in your daily lives. Take time for prayer, gratitude, and love for your neighbor.

Dream Pieces

Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to travel?  Or a dream to own your business?  To be married?  Or win a championship?

Life cannot merely be sleep, eat, work and moments of fun.  It’s pretty hard to find a peaceful work-life-balance.  Harder still if you are working towards a goal or achievement.

God is your biggest cheerleader, He will open doors and provide the training or skill-set for what you need to meet your life goals.  Faith is what helps the work-life-balance exist.  Without faith, aren’t you just a hamster running the wheel for no reason?

I’ve always loved to travel.  To see how other people live, what they eat, do for fun, tour beautiful sights, soak in lovely sunsets, pick shells on the beach.  Hubby and I are taking a dream trip this Fall to Ireland and Scotland.  I never really imagined we would take this trip; well, in fact – that is what I did; I imagined.  And now, it’s happening.

The grace of God is what gets me through every day.  The way He understands my heart and what makes me tick.  What I need to do, to more than exist.

I am blessed.  But don’t get me wrong, it has never been easy.  I’ve been in the valley far longer than I’ve enjoyed the view from the mountaintops.  I am a Work In Progress!  And having dreams always gives me hope.

By Him, For Him and in Him………..

Pieces of Grace

What is the grace of God?  How do we receive it?  What does it feel like?

For me, it is forgiveness, guidance and assurance all rolled together.  How it feels, differs with people, but I’d like to think it’s like getting an unexpected gigantic hug from a good friend.

To be suspended by the grace of God; it’s powerful and sustainable!

Psalm 34:1
I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace.
Psalm 84:11
For Jehovah God is our Light and our Protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from those who walk along his paths.
1 Corinthians 2:12
And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world’s spirit) to tell us about the wonderful free gifts of grace and blessing that God has given us.

Passover Pieces

I know very little about Jewish culture, religion or history.  I do, however, have many Jewish friends.  I understand that Passover, is as important as the Holy Week events Christians celebrate.  I wanted to share with you what I’ve found, in hopes that you; like me, are a spiritual seeker!

Passover (in Hebrew, Pesach) commemorates the exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt. The holiday originated in the Torah, where the word pesach refers to the ancient Passover sacrifice (known as the Paschal Lamb); it is also said to refer to the idea that God “passed over” (pasach) the houses of the Jews during the 10th plague on the Egyptians, the slaying of the first born. The holiday is ultimately a celebration of freedom, and the story of the exodus from Egypt is a powerful metaphor that is appreciated not only by Jews, but by people of other faiths as well.
