Closure Pieces

How many times have you heard “Let go, let God”? I’ve heard it plenty in my life and I may follow through with that sage advice 50% of the time! Letting go is often referred to “closure,” another word which basically means time to heal, move on, let go.

Recently I experienced the lifting of sadness and grief by giving my sister her final resting place. It was cathartic on so many levels. I know that God isn’t a magician, but sometimes it’s almost magical how the pieces fall into place; that He orchestrated. Serene, calm and quiet – my soul is healing.

“Letting go” is pretty hard for some of us. We are control freaks, and we hang onto this trait with all of our might. It’s a literal tug-of-war with God. He doesn’t like it, and we don’t either. But it continues. Perhaps this week I will be thankful for His saving grace in my life and prayer to learn how to loosen the reins.

Psalm 16: 7-8 The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake is confirmed by my sleeping heart. Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go.
