The Wishing Machine

Today as I hold tight onto a prayer request, hoping that Jesus will push this one through, I am reminded and have confessed to; that God is not a wishing machine.

We cannot go to Him when we have exhausted all earthly attempts at solving the issue. He must be our FIRST line of defense. Why do we treat God this way? He is the Most Holy. Prayer, even desperate requests need to start at the source.

Is your good friend John going to make all the pieces fit? Can your boss cash in a big favor so that your need is met (and then delight in the fact that now YOU owe HIM?)

Fickle creatures we are. Wanting to live our best life, while managing it “so well” “most of the time” until it crashes and we need “this to work in our favor.” Please God, I need you to A, B or C so I can be Happy/Employed/Married, again.

Let us value the relationship we have with God, with respect and reverence.

Romans 8:26 Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
